Options for monitoring post outs to Marketo
Many customers find that a weekly check to ensure alignment between the Demand Acceleration Platform and Marketo sufficient. You should determine the cadence and monitoring method that works best for your team depending on your volume and requirements.
Below is an outline of the options for monitoring lead post outs to Marketo.
Review accepted lead totals in both systems
Compare the total number of accepted leads in the Demand Acceleration Platform with the lead count in Marketo.
- This is the best option for quickly confirming successful lead flow from Sources into corresponding Marketo programs or static lists.
- In the Demand Acceleration Platform: accepted lead counts can be found in several locations.
- Within the platform: the My Campaigns Page & Sources Page, Campaign Sources Tab, or Source Summary tab.
- Within a Leads Report, Source Report, or Campaign Report. These reports can be scheduled to be sent to your email on a regular cadence.
- In Marketo: received leads can be found within the programs or static lists set up to collect leads (read more about reviewing programs in Marketo's Manage and View Members).
- If your lead count looks incorrect, use one of the options below to investigate and take action to resolve.
If your Sources are sending leads into Marketo programs or static lists with more complex routing, this option may not be as clear. |

Review Lead Statuses in Source Integrations tab
Confirm that all leads are displayed as Delivery Successful in the Demand Acceleration Platform > Source > Integration tab > Lead Status chart.
- This is the best option for quickly confirming low volume Campaigns with few Sources.
- In the Source Integrations tab: open the Marketo integration, review the Lead Status table and follow suggested actions below to review and resolve as needed.
If your Sources are running for more than 90 days, this option may not be as clear. |
This Lead Status chart only displays a count of leads from the last 90 days. |
This table shows the post out lead status categories displayed in the Source Integrations tab:
Lead Status | Description | Suggested Action |
Delivery Successful |
Count of leads that have been successfully sent to and received by Marketo.
|
N/A |
Delivery Failed |
Count of leads that were sent to Marketo but encountered an issue and were not yet received.
|
Generate a Post Out Log Report and check the column ResponseStatusCode for additional details. Then see Interpreting Marketo Post Outs & Common Errors to investigate and take action to resolve. |
Never Delivered |
Count of leads that have not yet been sent to Marketo by the Demand Acceleration Platform.
|
You can wait for the scheduler to clear the queue and automatically repost the leads.
If needed, follow steps to manually repost the lead. |
Review Dispositions in Leads Report
Confirm all leads display the disposition POSTOUT_SUCCESS in a Leads Report.
- This is the best option for accuracy as a Leads Report will provide one line item for each lead with an indicator of its post out status.
- This report can be scheduled to be regularly sent to you via email.
- In a Leads Report: review the DispositionCode column and follow suggested actions below to review and resolve as needed.
It is recommended to narrow your Leads Report to display only accepted leads. |
This table shows the Disposition Codes for accepted leads that can be seen in a Leads Report:

Indicates the post out attempt was successful, the lead was successfully sent by the Demand Acceleration Platform and received by Marketo.
|

POSTOUT_MARKETO _FAILED |
Indicates the post out attempt failed, the lead was not successfully received by Marketo.
|
Check the column ResponseStatusCode for additional details. Then see Interpreting Marketo Post Outs & Common Errors to investigate and take action to resolve. |
POSTOUT_MARKETO _ERROR |
Indicates the post out encountered an error and leads were not received by Marketo.
|
|

Indicates the lead has not yet been sent to Marketo by the Demand Acceleration Platform.
|
For details on Never Delivered leads, see Review Lead Statuses in Source Integrations tab. |
Review Response Codes in Post Out Log Report
Confirm all leads show as 200 in the ResponseStatusCode column in a Post Out Log Report.
- This option provides the most technical detail as a Post Out Log Report provides the full request that was posted out and the response data Marketo sent back.
- This report can be scheduled to be regularly sent to you via email.
- In a Post Out Log Report: sort by the LeadID column to group each post out attempt and review the ResponseStatusCode column. Follow suggested solutions in our Interpreting Marketo Post Out Responses & Common Errors to resolve as needed.
If your Sources are routing to Marketo static lists or writing to Marketo custom objects or activities, this option may not be as clear. |
Leads classified as 'Never Delivered' will not be included in this report as they have not yet been sent to Marketo. |
For additional information on reading the request and response code and help with troubleshooting, see Interpreting Marketo Post Outs & Common Errors.
