Relevant to: Event Lead Management
The logging page displays a record of activities that have been attempted between the Event Lead Management system and your integrated system. Logs are recorded when the systems authenticate and when trying to post out leads.
The logs help with understanding outbound lead flow from the Event Lead Management system to an integrated system and provide information to enable any troubleshooting if required.
Monitoring outbound lead flow in the Logging page
1. In the Event Lead Management system, click Logging.
2. The logging page will display all logs for the account. Use the drop-down menus at the top of the page to filter the logs by:
- Type (the integrated system)
- Event (the Events in your account)
- Status (success or error log)
- Date range (before a specific date, after a specific date, or between a date range)
This table shows the content displayed on the logging page:
|Integrated system icon||Displays the icon of your integrated system (eg. Salesforce).|
States what action the log has recorded:
The name of the Event that is associated with the lead.
System authentication logs will display Event ID Undefined because the action happens on an account level, rather than a specific Event.
Shows the date and time when an action was attempted and the log created.
Displays whether the action was a success or if it encountered an error.
3. Click the + icon to see more information in the log.
If the action is displayed as a success, the log detail will provide a summary of data that was sent to the integrated system. It displays both the integrated system fields that are receiving data and the corresponding values.
| For systems that utilize an API integration, a success log confirms that lead data has been received by the system.
| If sending data to the Demand Acceleration Platform, a success log indicates that data has been posted out from the Event Lead Management system. It does not confirm successful receipt on behalf of the Demand Acceleration Platform.
You will need to check in the Demand Acceleration Platform to confirm that the lead has been received. See Managing Event Lead Flow for instructions.
If the action is displayed as an error, the log detail will provide a brief explanation and a summary of data that had attempted to send.
Error messaging can vary between integrated systems:
|Integrated system||Description of error message|
Marketo, Pardot, Salesforce, HubSpot and Eloqua
Displays an error message that should help with troubleshooting.
See Errors seen most often in the Event Lead Management system for more information.
|Demand Acceleration Platform||
An error message will be displayed if a lead is missing a required field(s).
Errors seen most often in the Event Lead Management system
| It is crucial to confirm that each test lead has been successfully received, properly routed and is complete within your integrated system - prior to your Event.
It is advisable to send numerous test values using different data capture methods (ie. business cards and badges if these will be used at your Event). This will minimize the risk of error during an Event when lead data is incoming.
If you don't have access to your Marketing Automation or CRM system, collaborate with your system admin to confirm that test lead(s) have been received.
The table below shows the errors that are most commonly encountered in the Event Lead Management system. If you have received one of the responses noted here, follow the action as described in the solution column.
|Cause of error||
|Required field is missing||A required field in your integrated system is missing a value. Ensure the associated field is mandatory in your Event form.|
|Picklists don't match||
Ensure the picklist values are mirrored in both your integrated system and the Event Lead Management system.
|Wrong Campaign (Salesforce-only)||Check you have selected the correct Campaign ID when setting up the Salesforce integration in the Event Lead Management system.|
|Integration needs re-authenticating||
In the Event Lead Management system > Settings > Integrations, follow the steps to authenticate the system.
Errors specific to integrations with the Demand Acceleration Platform
- If there are required fields in your Demand Acceleration Platform Source and they are not present in the form post, the post in will fail and you will see an ERROR message in the logs. To fix the issue, check the required fields set in your DAP Source and ensure that the same fields are set as required in your Event.
